Hierapolis
The Roman spa city above the travertines, with a grand theatre, a vast necropolis and the Antique Pool.
Hierapolis grew around the thermal springs and became a prosperous Roman spa city. Its theatre, with a richly carved stage building, overlooks the valley, and the necropolis is one of the largest in Anatolia, with tombs of every style.
In the Antique Pool, often called Cleopatra’s Pool, guests can swim in warm spring water among fallen marble columns. The Martyrium of St Philip and the Hierapolis Archaeology Museum complete the visit.
- →The Antique Pool has a separate entrance fee — advise guests and include it in quotes where requested.
- →Electric carts are available on the site for guests who prefer not to walk long distances.
