Panagia Theoskepastos Monastery
13th-century monastery built into the rock, with frescoes of Christ and the saints.
Panagia Theoskepastos, known locally as the Kızlar (Maidens’) Monastery, is a Byzantine foundation dating to the 13th century. It is built against a mountain rock on the slopes of Boztepe, around 8 km from the city centre, beside a green valley.
Inside, the walls are decorated with frescoes depicting the life of Christ and the saints. It is a short, rewarding add-on for culture-focused groups already heading up to the Boztepe viewpoint.
