Knidos Ancient City
Ancient Greek city at the tip of the Datça peninsula, between two harbours.
Knidos lies at the very end of the Datça peninsula, where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean. The city was famous in antiquity for Praxiteles’ statue of Aphrodite and for its twin harbours, which are still visible.
Remains include theatres, temples, a round temple terrace, streets and houses spread over the slopes. Sunsets here are among the finest on the coast.
- →There is little shade — schedule morning or late afternoon visits in summer.
- →The road from Datça is narrow; allow around 45 minutes each way.
- →Boat access from Datça is a good alternative in calm weather.
