Kaunos Rock Tombs
Temple-fronted Lycian-style tombs carved into the cliffs above the river.
The rock tombs of Kaunos, cut into the cliff face opposite Dalyan town, date from the 4th century BC. Their temple façades, with columns and pediments, are the best-known image of Dalyan.
They are best viewed from the river boat or from the Dalyan waterfront, where they are floodlit in the evening.
- →The best photo angle is from the river in the late afternoon.
- →Close-up access is via a footpath from the far bank; most groups view from the boat.
