Şile
A Black Sea fishing town with a lighthouse, an island castle and long sandy beaches.
About 75 minutes from Üsküdar, Şile has the region’s best-known lighthouse, a medieval castle on a rocky islet just offshore, and beaches that are popular in summer. The town is also known for Şile cloth, a light hand-woven cotton.
Fish restaurants along the harbour and cliffs make it a relaxed lunch stop on the way to Ağva.
- →Black Sea currents can be strong — swimming only on supervised beaches.
- →Summer weekends bring heavy traffic from the city; plan weekday visits.
