Lake Sapanca
A freshwater lake ringed by forested hills, with lakeside walks, cafés and hotels.
Lake Sapanca lies about 90–120 minutes east of Istanbul. A promenade runs along the lake at Sapanca town, and hotels, bungalows and villas with private pools line the shores and wooded slopes.
It is a popular nature break for Gulf and family markets alike, combining well with Maşukiye and, in winter, the Kartepe ski area.
- →Heavy weekend traffic from Istanbul — plan transfers on weekdays where possible.
- →Misty mornings are common; mid-afternoon is best for lake photos.
